Box Score GLENVILLE, W.Va. - - Glenville State College avenged an early season five set loss with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-20) victory over UVa-Wise to earn a split in the season series on Saturday. The Pioneers' Natalie Baumgartner finished with a match-high 26 assists and Dejana Ludoski added a match-high 14 kills in the win.
Glenville State (10-22, 4-12 MEC) took advantage of 19 hitting errors, four service errors, four blocking errors, and two return errors by UVa-Wise (7-21, 2-14 MEC) in the regular season finale.
The Cavaliers received 24 assists from
Veronica Sanchez along with eight kills from
Karley Allen and six kills from
Santana Bishop. Allen added six digs in the match as did
Brittni Altmann to tie for team-high honors.
Glenville State secured the number 10 seed in next week's inaugural Mountain East Conference Tournament with the win while UVa-Wise will be the number 12 seed in the tournament. The Cavaliers will open tournament play against Shepherd University. Match times for the tournament will be released later this weekend by the MEC.
