WISE -- The Clinch Valley College Varsity Volleyball Team rallied to win in matches played here Monday night against Milligan and Emory and Henry. The first match was played between Emory and Milligan on one court, with Milligan being the victor, and CVC's "A" team, with Clinch Valley overpowering the Milligan girls two out of three games.
The Clinch Valley Varsity team vs. the Milligan team was the next match. The first game proved to be an easy win for the Cavalettes by a score of 15-3, with Shirley Baker pounding in 10 points with excellent serves, and good return. The second game was close by a score of 15-12, which won the match for the CVC girls.
The second match played by CVC Varsity was against Emory and Henry. The first game was won by CVC 15-8, with Susan Lawson adding 7 points to the score. The second game's score was 15-12, in favor of CVC, with Diane Ratliff adding 7 points.
Miss Doris Kilgore, coach of the girl's varsity volleyball, who has dedicated much time and effort to the beginning of girls' sports at Clinch Valley, says that the girls have improved tremendously; and if they keep it up, they will be hard to beat in the tournaments.
