OAK RIDGE, TN -- The UVA Wise men's golf team shot 286 in the third round to take first place at the 2026 Atomic City Classic with a three-round total of 864.

The Highland Cavaliers recorded rounds of 291, 287 and 286.

Jacob Leonard led the Cavs individually, tying for third at even-par 216 with rounds of 71, 74 and 71. Cruz Bongiovanni and Piyachote Naphapayarksiri tied for sixth at 2-over 218, while Matthew Mehaffey tied for ninth at 4-over 220 after a final-round 70. Zuhair Mirza tied for 19th at 7-over 223.

The Cavs have placed second in tournaments multiple times over the past few seasons, including twice in this very same Atomic City Classic, but the last time they claimed first place in a tournament was when they won the Mountain East Conference Championship in October, 2016.

The win closes out the Fall portion of the 2026-27 schedule. They will return in early March.
