HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter began with
Taylor Thompson securing the opening draw control for the Highland Cavaliers. Despite early turnovers,
Caitlyn Schultz put the team on the board with the first goal. However, the Flames responded with a goal from Emma Bailey, assisted by Maddie Carr, leveling the score at 1-1. Both teams had opportunities to pull ahead, but goalkeepers
Addie Donalson for the Cavs and Savannah Weisman for Lee made crucial saves, keeping the game tied at the end of the quarter.
- The second quarter saw the Highland Cavaliers grab the lead for good. The Cavs'
Kaylea Paterson opened the scoring with a woman-up goal, assisted by
Taylor Thompson, leveling the game at 2-2. Paterson continued her impact with two more crucial goals, including a free position shot, pushing the Cavs ahead 3-2. Schultz added to the lead with a woman-up goal assisted by
Olivia Guy. The Flames responded late in the quarter as Taylor McGovern scored a woman-down goal, assisted by Emma Bailey, narrowing the deficit to 5-3. Despite the Flames' efforts, the half ended with the Cavs maintaining a 5-3 lead.
- The third quarter saw the Cavs extend their lead as they outshot Lee 13-5 over the stanza.
Chloe Huston scored at 9:35, followed closely by Schultz at 8:35, pushing the score to 8-3.
Issie Brown capitalized on a woman-up opportunity, assisted by
Katie Michaels, to make it 9-3 with 6:10 remaining. Later, Paterson and
Logen Davis each added woman-up goals, widening the margin to 10-3. The Flames responded with a late surge, scoring four consecutive goals, including Emma Bailey's and Noelle Harrington's free position goals, narrowing the gap to 10-7 by the end of the quarter.
- The Cavaliers secured a 13-9 victory over the Flames, with a strong fourth quarter performance. Schultz extended the Cavaliers' lead with a woman-up goal at 13:00, assisted by Huston. McGovern of the Flames responded quickly with a goal at 12:16, bringing the score to 11-8. Huston further extended the Cavaliers' advantage with a goal at 10:53.
Noley Hiller added another at 7:11, assisted by Paterson, solidifying the lead. Despite a late goal by the Flames' Lily Tomczik at 4:32, the Cavs maintained their advantage to clinch their fourth win of the season.
GETTING WISE

Caitlyn Schultz scored four goals off of eleven shots. The eleven shots tied for the fourth-most in program history.
