WISE – The UVA Wise Highland Cavalier Club recently announced that Bayleigh Allison and Calen Lightford were awarded the group's annual scholarship for the 2025-26 academic year.

The Highland Cavalier Club is an organization that aids and supports the athletic programs at UVA Wise.

Allison is a rising senior on the softball team. The Wise native was one of the top pitchers on the team last season as she had 19 appearances with a 4.15 ERA and 44 strikeouts. She has a 3.8 GPA and is a member of the Darden Society and Sigma Zeta (a national math and sciences honor society). She also volunteers for many community service groups in and around the area.

Lightford will return for a senior season with the men's basketball team in 2025-26. The Huntsville, Alabama, native appeared in 27 games last season where he averaged 5.7 points and 1.7 rebounds a game. He was third on the team in three pointers and assists. Off the court, he has been named to the Dean's List multiple times and has participated in many volunteer and community service projects.
