WISE – UVA Wise will host the 33rd Annual Carroll Dale Invitational Golf Tournament on Sept. 29 at the Virginian Golf Club in Bristol, Virginia. Proceeds from the tournament support the athletic programs at UVA Wise.
The tournament is named after former UVA Wise Director of Athletics Carroll Dale. Dale, a native of Wise, played at Virginia Tech before moving on to the National Football League. He had a distinguished career in the NFL, where he played for the Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, and is best known for his tenure with the Green Bay Packers, where he helped the Packers win three NFL Championships and two Super Bowl titles. Carroll played in the Pro Bowl, is in the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and a member of the National Football Foundation.
Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. and is followed by a shotgun start at 10:30. The tournament format is a will be a four-player scramble. There will be four flights established, according to handicap, with three winning places in each flight. Winners will be presented with large plaques that contain a team photo.
Other prizes that will be awarded include hole-in-one prizes as well as an opportunity to purchase a $10 ticket for a prize drawing, which includes a set of irons, putter, driver, a special autographed jersey, footballs and other prizes. The drawing will be held during the closing reception, hosted in The Virginian's clubhouse.
Several individual and team slots are still available and sponsors for holes, dinner, carts, snacks, and more are welcome.
