WISE -- UVA Wise recently announced the addition of Samantha DesJardine as an associate athletic trainer. She comes to Wise from Duly Heath and Care in Aurora, IL where she has served as a Physician Extender since 2021.
At Duly Health and Care, DesJardine's clinical responsibilities included casting, splinting, suturing; assisting with ultrasound guided procedures; working with patients for at home rehabilitation; and training new employees. During this time, she also worked with the Joliet Slammers professional baseball team, covering all games, developing rehab plans, and assessing and diagnosing injuries.
Prior to entering the clinical setting, DesJardine was an assistant athletic trainer and graduate assistant athletic trainer at Quincy University where her primary sport assignments were Football, Men's Volleyball, Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Tennis, Cheer, and Dance. She also assisted with athletic training coverage for Men's Soccer, Baseball, and Basketball.
Prior to her time at Quincy, she served as an athletic training student at Lincoln University (Missouri) primarily working with Men's and Women's Basketball, Track & Field, Football and Softball and the University of Missouri – Columbia where her sport rotations included Track & Field, Swimming & Diving, football, Wrestling, and Women's Basketball. While at Mizzou, she served as an athletic training student at the 2016 SEC Swimming & Diving Conference Championship and the 2015 NCAA Wrestling National Championships.
DesJardine holds a Bachelor of Health Science degree in athletic training from the University of Missouri - Columbia and a Master of Science in Education Leadership from Quincy University. She is a BOC certified athletic trainer and is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association
