WISE -- UVA Wise has announced the hiring of Patrick Fisher as the college's new Director of Strength and Conditioning.
Fisher is a native of southwest Virginia and joins the UVA Wise team after most recently serving as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at nearby John I. Burton High School in Norton.
"We are very excited to welcome Patrick back to UVA Wise," remarked Director of Athletics Kendall Rainey. "He shares the vision and values of the College and the athletic department, and he has a passion for teaching and coaching. Patrick has strong knowledge of strength and conditioning and the skills and experiences to be a great extension of our coaching staffs."
Fisher is a 2012 alumnus of UVA Wise where he competed as a member of the men's basketball team and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in health and physical education. He also holds a Master of Science degree in exercise science with a concentration in human performance from Liberty University.
Throughout his career, Fisher has taught math and physical education while coaching various levels of basketball and serving as the boys varsity tennis coach for three years at Eastside High School.
Fisher will oversee the strength and conditioning program for sixteen Highland Cavalier sports and begin his official duties at UVA Wise on June 16.
