NEWBERRY, SC – The Highland Cavalier lacrosse team saw their season come to an end in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Quarterfinal as they fell at Newberry 20-13 Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Kaylea Paterson and
Logen Davis scored in the first 1:05 to put the Cavs ahead 2-0. Newberry then rolled off eight of the next nine goals to take the 8-3 lead.
- Golatt scored on a free position shot, followed by a pair of goals from Stoffelen. The Wolves would then add a goal to extend the lead before
Leslie Clay, Paterson, and Stoffelen all scored and tied the game up at 9-9 with 13:49 left in the third quarter.
- Newberry's Emma Jobs then scored two goals 14 seconds apart to retake the lead for the Wolves. Paterson scored her third goal of the game to cut the lead to 11-10 before the Wolves scored four straight to extend their lead.
Alexis Hilstrom scored with 1:32 left in the period but the Wolves outscored the Cavs 5-2 down the stretch to get the 20-13 win.
- Serena Elias scored four goals to lead the Wolves, while Jobs added in a hat trick. Jobs also led the team with five draws won.
GETTING WISE
- Paterson led the Cavs with four goals and an assist to lead the team. She ends the season with 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points.
- Stoffelen had her 15th and final hat trick as she had three goals and an assists. She ends her career with 109 goals, 47 assists and 156 points. She ranks fifth all-time in goals, fourth in assists and sixth in points.
- Golatt had a goal, an assist, and won ten draws. The ten draws won tie her for third-most in a game in program history and are the most in a game since 2019. She ends her career ranked first in free-position goals (32), fourth in draw controls (171), sixth in goals (101), eighth in assists (34), and ninth in points (135).

Issie Brown won six draws to improve to 53 on the season.
Addie Donalson and
Paige Rodgers led the team with three ground balls apiece.
