ATHENS, WV – UVA Wise broke open a 3-3 tie with five runs in the top of the fourth inning, but the homestanding Mountain Lions battled back and used a big eighth inning to claim the 10-8 win over the Cavs Wednesday afternoon.
It was the second meeting this season between the regional foes and former Mountain East Conference rivals, with Concord taking both games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams traded runs throughout the first three innings. In the fourth, CU loaded the bases and then walked in two Cavalier runs.
DJ Dickson then scored on a sacrifice fly by
Dalton Chapman.
Matt Frye then came up and singled to right center, scoring
Jake Smith and
Joshua Morgan.
- That score stood until the seventh, when Concord plated two on a home run. In the eighth, they first scored on a groundout before MJ Hunter hit a grand slam to give Concord the lead. They then held the Cavs to a baserunner in the ninth inning to claim the win.
- The Cavs had seven hits to Concord's twelve.
- Morgan led the Cavs at the plate as he was 2-2 with a run and three RBI.
Bernard Creque was 2-4 and scored a run.
