BRISTOL, TN – The UVA Wise Highland Cavaliers pounded out 15 runs on nine hits and blew past the King Tornado 15-5 for the team's twentieth win of the season Tuesday afternoon at the King Baseball Field.
It is the final meeting between the local rivals this season, and both games were won by UVA Wise.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first inning, the Cavs scored by a RBI double by
Jake Weaver, a two RBI triple from
Nick Badgett, and a RBI single from
DJ Dickson in the second inning. They added a fifth run win
Morgan Miller scored on a wild pitch in the third.
- The Tornado got on the board with a solo home run by Levi Medford in the fourth inning.
- The Cavs scored five more runs in the fifth. After
Jaden Ruehling reached base, he was brought home by a triple from
Dylan Foster. Weaver was then walked, and Badgett added another RBI with a single that scored Foster. Dickson then cleared the bases with a three run home run.
- King scored four runs in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 10-5. The Cavs would then pull away as they added another run in their next at bat and would add four more in the eighth via a double by Weaver and triple by Badgett, who later scored on an error to make the score 15-5. The Cavs then shut down King in the last two innings to grab their twentieth win.
GETTING WISE
- Badgett had a game as he went 4-6 with two triples and four RBI. He also scored three times.
- Ruehling and Dickson were 3-5 each, with Ruehling hitting a double and Dickson adding a home run and four RBI to his résumé, bringing his season RBI total to 20.

Eli Reece takes the win as he went five innings and allowed only one run off of four hits with five strikeouts.
- The twenty wins are the most since 2019, when the team had 26. They tied the 2016 squad 20 wins and trail the 2012 team by four wins.
