Lenoir-Rhyne Takes South Atlantic Conference Series from UVA Wise Baseball

HICKORY, NC – The UVA Wise baseball team fell to Lenoir-Rhyne in a South Atlantic Conference series Friday and Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nick Badgett led off Friday's game with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. The Bears answered back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. They added to their lead with three runs in the third, a run in the fourth, and nine runs in the fifth to win the game 15-1.
- The Cavs had seven hits in the game. Joshua Morgan led the team with two hits.
- In Saturday's opener, Lenoir-Rhyne scored nine runs in the first inning and went on to take the 17-0 shutout.
- UVA Wise had four hits in the game, with Badgett, Morgan, Matt Frye, and Jacob Boyle accounting for the hits.
- The Bears scored a run in the second inning and four in the third to take the 5-0 lead. Boyle put the Cavs on the board in the fourth with a solo home run. Boyle would score again in the sixth inning on a wild pitch, joined soon after by Morgan who scored on an infield single by Morgan Miller. The Bears would go on to win the game 7-3.
- Jaden Ruehling had two of the Cavs' six hits, with Boyle, Morgan, Miller, and Carter Babb getting the other hits.

UP NEXT
The Cavs will stay on the road as they will play at King Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
