WISE -- The UVA Wise men's basketball team used stifling defense and double-figure scoring from five different players as they never trailed in an 85-51 over Young Harris Wednesday night on the Quillen Court.
The Cavaliers' bench played a crucial role, contributing 40 points to the team's total.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVA Wise opened the game with a strong offensive start, highlighted by
Calen Lightford's early three-pointer.
Yoro Diallo contributed significantly with assists and defensive plays, including a steal that led to a fastbreak dunk by
Kam Roberts at 18:06. The home team capitalized on transitions to extend the lead to 21-3 midway through the half. The Highland Cavaliers maintained momentum throughout the half, with
Evan Ramsey and Roberts consistently finding the basket. Diallo's defensive presence was notable, accumulating multiple steals. The Cavs extended their lead with efficient shooting and closed the first half ahead, 47-18.
- In the second half, the Cavaliers extended their control, opening with a strong 4–0 spurt, including a dunk by Ramsey assisted by Diallo, pushing the score to 50–18. Diallo continued to impact the game with defensive rebounds and assists, contributing to the team's momentum. Despite some turnovers, the Cavs maintained their edge, highlighted by a three-pointer from
Anderson Cummins at 9:48, widening the margin to 62–31. The Mountain Lions made a small run with a series of baskets to cut the lead to 23, but UVA Wise countered with key defensive stops and timely shots. The team continued to capitalize on opportunities caused by their defense, with
Hensley Ward hitting a three-pointer at 3:56, extending the score to 78–49. The Cavs closed the game with a 6-0 run to capture the 85-51 victory.

- Roberts led all players with 15 points as he shot 60 percent (6-10) from the field.He also added in five rebounds and four steals.
- Ward added 13 points and four rebounds.
- Diallo chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds to continue his streak of double-doubles. He has had a double-double in each game this season. He flirted with a triple-double as he also dished out six assists.
- Ramsey had eleven points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.
- Cummins scored 12 points, including a perfect 4-4 from the three-point arc, and also had three assists.
- For the game the Cavs shot 47.0 (31-66) percent from the field and 40.6 (13-32) from three-point range. They held YHC to 25.4 percent (15-59) from the field and 25 percent (8-32) from behind the arc.
