ROCK HILL, SC – It's basketball time again in the mountains, and the UVA Wise women's basketball team has been hard at work getting ready for the season opener on November 14. With the start date fast approaching, the South Atlantic Conference released their annual preseason information with
Caroline Mullins and
Madison Looney being named Players to Watch for the 2025-26 season. The team was also picked to finish eighth in the Coaches Poll.
The team opens the season on Nov. 14 and 15 in the SAC vs. Peach Belt Conference Challenge, taking on Georgia Southwestern in the season opener on Friday before playing host USC Beaufort the next day.
They will play twelve home games this season and also have exhibition contests at Liberty and High Point. All but one of the home games will be SAC games, with the non-conference game coming against former Mountain East Conference rival (and Coach
Jamie Cluesman's alma mater) Concord University.
Coker was picked to finish first, receiving nine of twelve first-place votes. Carson-Newman was picked second, followed by Wingate in third. Anderson, Lenoir-Rhyne and Catawba were next. The Highland Cavaliers placed eighth, while Newberry, Tusculum, Emory & Henry, and Mars Hill were picked 9-12.

Izzy Proffitt makes the move from SAC rival Anderson, where she averaged 3.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists a game.
