SALISBURY, NC – The Highland Cavalier women's basketball team ended their season Saturday afternoon as Catawba opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run and the Cavs were unable to mount a comeback as they fell to the Catawba Indians 69-56.
The loss ends the season for the team and was the final game for seniors
Katlin Burger,
Sable Burnside, and
Ines Latapia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams traded baskets early until
Katlin Burger and
Sable Burnside helped spark a run that put the Cavs up by 12 following a three-pointer by
Alissa Cheek. Catawba then scored four straight to end the quarter.
- UVA Wise maintained a four to six point cushion throughout the second quarter until a late Catawba run tied the game at 28-28 at the half.
- Catawba then opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run that they extended to 16 points with 3:27 remaining. The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the quarter, with Catawba leading by 17 at the end of the stanza. The lead would remain around that mark until the last minute, when the Cavs would cut the lead to ten points. They could not pull any closer and ended their season with the 69-56 loss.
- Janiya Foskey scored 23 points and had six rebounds to lead Catawba, while Nala Baker and Jada Porter each added in 11 points.
GETTING WISE

Katlin Burger flirted with a new career high in her final game as a Highland Cavalier as she had 24 points and a team high rebounds. She shot 10-12 from the field and 4-5 from behind the arc. Burger passed the 1,000 point mark for her career earlier this season, and despite missing several games this season due to an injury she ends her career with 1,143 points, putting her at 18
th on the all-time scoring list. She also had 519 career rebounds.

Sable Burnside led the team in steals with four, had four assists, and scored the final six points of her career in the game. She finishes with 959 points, 459 rebounds, 125 assists, 89 blocks, and 118 steals.

Ines Latapia had three points and four rebounds in her final outing in the black and red.

Makenzie Bremer scored eight points, while
Ella Karst had a team high five assists in addition to six points. Cheek also scored six points.
