LEXINGTON, KY – The UVA Wise volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Acadamic Award sponsored by INTENT for the 2023-24 academic year.

The award goes to teams that maintain a 3.3 grade point average for the year.

Over 1,400 collegiate and high school men's and women's programs earned the award this year, a new record.

The team enjoyed a banner year in the classroom, with ten of them earning spots on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and nine making the Spring Dean's List.

The 2024 volleyball squad opens their season on Thursday, September 5 as they host the University of West Alabama and local rival King University in the Cavalier Classic. They will face UWA at 2 p.m. and King at 6 p.m. in the Prior Convocation Center with UWA and King facing each other at 4 p.m. The Cavalier Classic will go through September 7 and will also feature Lees-McRae College and Bluefield State University.
