TENNIS EARNS HUGE HOME VICTORIES

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WISE – UVA Wise Men's and Women's Tennis defeated Mars Hill Tuesday night to earn their first South Atlantic Conference victories of the season. The Cavalier Women's Tennis victory was clinched by Kinsey Knox in the sixth spot, as she defeated Alizee Piette (6-0, 6-3). While on the Men's side victory was clinched in the fourth spot by Vanja Vojinovic, who was victorious over Emiel Tidman (6-4, 6-4); sparking an exuberant celebration from the homestanding Cavaliers.

WOMEN'S MATCH:
-In the one spot Antonella Campodonico dropped a hard fought match to Elana Mackey (6-1, 6-1).
-The Cavs responded with a win at number five by Amelia Monteith over Lilah Dean (6-2, 7-5).
-Christina Korakopoulou followed up with a win at number three over Maria Razzetta (7-6 {7-4}, 6-4).
-Mars Hill evened the score at 2-2 with a win by Amalie Anderson (6-1, 6-2) over Lucy Cunliffe.
-Constanca Azinhaga put the Cavs back on top 4-3 as she defeated Lauren Schave (6-0, 6-1).
-Kinsey Knox clinched the match as she defeated Alizee Piette (6-0, 6-3).
-The Cavaliers added the doubles point with wins by Cunliffe/Monteith and Korakopoulou/Wang.
 
MEN'S MATCH:
-Miguel De Rueda put the Cavaliers on the board first as he defeated Marco Martinez in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-0)
-Mars Hill evened the score at 1-1 as Sasha Molina outlasted Hsin-Nuo Hsieh (4-6, 6-4, 6-3).
-The Cavs retook the lead 2-1 as Yi-Hsuan Chen gutted out a three set victory over Paulo Gutierrez (6-3, 4-6, 6-4).
-Daniel Gonzalez extended the lead to 3-1 winning back-to-back tiebreakers over Diego Lopez (7-6 [7-5}, 7-6 {7-5}).
-Vanja Vojinovic sealed the win for the Cavs as he defeated Emiel Tidman (6-4, 6-4).
-Following the clinch, Diego Pedrero dropped his match to Paul-Antoine Pelzer (0-6, 6-3, 10-5)
 
UP NEXT: The UVA Wise Women's Tennis Team will host Davis and Elkins College on Thursday afternoon, before both teams travel to Anderson, S.C. for their next South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday.
