SALEM, WV -- The UVA Wise Cavaliers faced a challenging weekend, starting with a narrow 4-3 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday. The Cavaliers showcased their strength in singles, securing victories at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4, but ultimately fell short after dropping all three doubles matches.
 
West Virginia Wesleyan earned the doubles point by winning on all completed courts. Dai Khanh Nguyen and Jheng Huang defeated Yi-Hsuan Chen and Genis Ribas 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Daniel Podoprygora and Kulani Shipalana bested Daniel Gonzalez and Mario Viana 7-5 at No. 2, and Stefans Audrins and Leandro Aranda topped Chathurya Nilaweera and Lantian Bai 6-2 at No. 3.
 
In singles action, the Cavaliers began trailing 1-0. Ribas fought hard to defeat Nguyen 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 at No. 1 singles, and Chen secured a straight-set win over Audrins 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2. However, West Virginia Wesleyan won at No. 3, with Huang overcoming Nilaweera 7-6(6), 6-3. Gonzalez added a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Hugo Poulain at No. 4. The final two matches saw Kulani Shipalana defeat Nacho Martinez 1-6, 6-4, 10-5 at No. 5 and Podoprygora defeating Mustafa Raja 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6, resulting in a final score of 4-3 in favor of West Virginia Wesleyan.

The Cavaliers rebounded on Saturday, defeating Davis and Elkins 5-2. UVA Wise claimed two of the three doubles matches, earning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Chen and Ribas took down Philipp Fedorczuk and Anish Ranjalkar 6-4 at No. 1, while Nilaweera and Martinez edged Julio Troncoso and Maurizio Gutierrez 7-6(5) at No. 3. Davis and Elkins claimed victory at No. 2 when Sou Okada and Asier Perez defeated Gonzalez and Viana 7-5.
 
Starting with a 1-0 lead from doubles, the Cavaliers added to their advantage with singles victories. Chen dominated Ranjalkar 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, and Nilaweera overcame Okada 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3. The Senators responded by winning at No. 1 and No. 4, with Fedorczuk defeating Ribas 6-2, 6-4 and Perez besting Gonzalez 6-2, 6-1. However, the Cavaliers sealed the match with wins at the final two positions—Martinez defeating Troncoso 7-6(3), 7-6(1) at No. 5, and Viana topping Gutierrez 7-6(5), 6-3 at No. 6.

The Cavaliers then took their winning momentum to Salem, where they achieved a decisive 6-1 victory on Sunday. They secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Chen and Ribas prevailed over Simon Braeuning and Elias Hort 7-6(0) at No. 1, while Viana and Gonzalez bested Stefan Schultz and Jack Taggert 6-2 at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match featuring Martinez and Nilaweera against Jose Cobo and Mika Rodermond remained unfinished.
 
In singles, UVA Wise continued their strong performance with wins across five courts. Ribas defeated Braeuning 7-6(7), 6-2 at No. 1, while Nilaweera triumphed over Schultz 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3, and Martinez overcame Cobo 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4. Viana added an 8-5 win over Rodermond at No. 5, and Lantian Bai defeated David Martinez 9-7 at No. 6. Salem managed to secure its lone point at No. 2 singles, where Hort defeated Chen 1-6, 6-4, 10-8.
