JOHNSON CITY, TN – East Tennessee State held the UVA Wise women's basketball team to 32 percent shooting as they defeated the Highland Cavaliers 72-42 in an exhibition contest Sunday afternoon.
The game is the first of two exhibition games against Division I teams this season (the other being Radford on December 20) and are valuable chances for the Cavs to test their mettle against teams at the highest level of collegiate basketball. The loss does not go against UVA Wise's win-loss total and the statistics do not count for UVA Wise.
It is the second meeting between the two schools, with the last one being an official game on Nov. 26, 1990 when then-Clinch Valley College fell to the Bucs 98-87 in Johnson City.
