WISE – The UVA Wise men's basketball team continued their winning ways at home as they shot out to an eight point lead and never trailed in the 72-59 win over Newberry Wednesday evening.
They have won their last two games by an average of 9,5 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Three pointers by
Patrick Shelley and
Lav Cvetkovic' and a dunk by
Zy'Ever Wingfield propelled the Cavs out to the 8-0 lead to open the game. The lead hovered around that range until the Wolves cut it to 13-12 with 11:01 left in the half.
Bradley Dean then stole the ball and dished it to Shelley for the fast break layup, but the Wolves then hit a three to tie the game at 15-15. After UVA Wise went back up by four, Newberry tied it again with 6:52 remaining. The Cavs then went on a 6-0 run and pulled ahead by eleven points late in the half.
- Newberry cut the lead to 38-36 with 17:05 left in the game, but a
Calen Lightford three-pointer sparked an 8-0 run to put the lead back to double figures. The Wolves would cut the lead to seven on multiple occasions down the stretch, but could never get any closer as UVA Wise went on to claim the 72-59 win.
- Booker Cusaac had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Wolves. James Lovorn added in 16 points.
GETTING WISE

Zy'Ever Wingfield led the Cavs with 17 points off of 8-12 shooting from the field. He also pulled down five rebounds.

Evan Ramsey chipped in 16 points and five rebounds.
Patrick Shelley added in 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.
Bradley Dean had 11 points and also pulled down six rebounds to go along with five assists.

Lav Cvetkovic' led the team with nine rebounds.
- UVA Wise shot an impressive 47.7 percent from the field (50.0% in the second half) and held Newberry to 32.8 percent for the game.
UP NEXT
The team hits the road for a Saturday SAC contest at Anderson. Tip-off against the Trojans is set for 4 p.m. AU is 5-5 overall and 2-5 in the SAC after falling 100-97 to Coker earlier this evening.
They will then return home for a Monday High Noon game against Carolina Christian. It will be Kids' Day and several local schools with have students in attendance. The game is open to all and admission is free.
