WISE – The UVA Wise men's basketball team has two games coming up this finals week as they host Newberry and travel to Anderson whilst taking their final exams for the fall semester.
The team enters the week with a 4-4 overall record and a 2-3 record in South Atlantic Conference games. They have had a week off since their impressive win over #19 Carson-Newman last week.
GETTING WISE
- The team is narrowly being outscored by the opposition 80.1-81.1 points a game but they are out shooting opponents 45.1 percent – 42.7 percent. The Cavs are -2.1 in rebounding.
- Six players are averaging double figures in scoring, led by

- Ramsey leads the team in rebounds with 8.1 per game, followed closely by Shelley with 7.9. They rank third and fourth in the SAC in that category.
- Bradley leads the team in assists with 5.5 per game. Shelley averages 2.2 assists a game.
- Ramsey leads the team and is second in the SAC in blocks with his 2.0 blocks a game average.
ABOUT NEWBERRY
- The Wolves enter the game with a 4-4 overall and 1-3 SAC record. They fell to Wingate 74-70 in their last outing on Saturday afternoon.
- This season, Newberry are outscoring their opponents 73.9-72.0 points a game. The Wolves also hold a +4.8 advantage in rebounding.
- James Lovorn leads the team in scoring with 13.0 points a game, followed by Drake Downs' 12.6 points per game.
- Malakhi Stremlow leads the team in rebounds (7.3 rpg), followed closely by Downs (7.1 rpg). Stremlow also leads the team in assists with 3.1 a game.
ABOUT ANDERSON
- The Trojans enter the week with a 5-4 overall and 2-4 SAC record. They started off the season 4-0 but have gone 1-4 since. They will host Coker Wednesday evening before hosting the Cavs Saturday afternoon.
- Austin Webb leads the team with 16.1 points a game, Cole Middleton has 15.7 ppg, AJ Wright Jr has 11.1, and Sam Perez 10.4.
- Middleton leads the team in rebounds with 6.6 boards a game. Perez is pulling down 4.4.
- Wright leads in assists with 5.7 per game and steals with 3.1 a game, while Middleton averages 1.1 blocks per game.
