ROCK HILL, S.C. – UVA Wise tabbed a record-number 114 student-athletes on the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2022-23 year, the league office announced Friday morning. UVA Wise's 114 student-athletes is the highest amount of honorees since the institution's induction to the conference in 2019. 

To be eligible for inclusion on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, student-athletes must have competed in a sponsored championship sport and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher throughout the academic year.

Baseball led the way for the Cavaliers with 19 student-athletes named to the SAC Honor Roll. Football followed with 17 players receiving the honor, while men's cross country tabbed 10 student-athletes and volleyball placed nine on the list.

women's basketball, men's basketball, women's lacrosse, and women's tennis each saw eight student-athletes earn the award. Seven softball players were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll while women's cross country and women's golf put up six apiece.

Finishing off the awards were men's golf and men's tennis each adding four award winners. 

A total of 2,886 student-athletes, spanning each of the South Atlantic Conference's 13 member institutions and 24 sports, were named to the 2022-23 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
