WISE - - On a day that UVA Wise junior Cole Harness became the 11th player in school history to reach 100 career RBI, it was visiting Limestone that scored a doubleheader sweep with a pair of one-run wins. The Saints won game one 16-15 in 10 innings before winning the night cap 8-7.
UVA Wise (13-25, 3-14 SAC) led 9-4 after Harness belted a grand slam in the top of the fifth to join the 100-RBI club.
Batting last on the road, Limestone (14-23, 6-11 SAC) spent the rest of the game playing catch-up. The Saints tied the game with a three-run ninth Â- the final run coming on Dylan Shugan's run-scoring hit.
The Cavs went back on top in the top of the 10th on an RBI groundout from Matt Frye only to see the lead slip away in the home half of the inning.
With two on and one out, Zach O'Malley walked on a borderline 3-2 pitch to load the bases. On the next pitch, Giuseppe Seidita was hit by a pitch to tie the game. UVA Wise Head Coach Brandon Costa came out to argue that Seidita had moved his body into the strike zone which would nullify the hit by pitch.
The argument would be for no avail as the play would stand, tying the game.
Four pitches later, the game was over when Gavin Troyer walked giving the Saints a walk-off victory on the Cavs' home field.
Limestone picked up 24 hits in the win, leadoff man Peter Adams led the way with four hits with Noah Love and O'Malley lining three hits each.
DJ Dickson went 3-for-5 for UVA Wise while Nick Badgett, Hunter Meador, Jeb Hurst and Frye all added two hits in defeat. Dickson and Badgett added homers in the game, the homer by Dickson was his first of the year.
Game two saw the Saints jump out to a 7-1 lead after three innings as O'Malley had five RBI in the early going of the contest.
The Cavs scored twice in the fourth on run-scoring hits by Jacob Boyle and Badgett to make it 7-3. An inning later, Prinkleton made it 7-4 when he scampered home on a wild pitch.
Costa's club would tie it in the sixth, the tying run coming on Meador's infield single that plated Prinkleton.
In the home half of the frame, Limestone scored what proved to be the winning run when Peyton Reel singled home Shugan.
UVA Wise would go down in order in the seventh as the visitors completed the doubleheader sweep.
Adams added three more hits in game two for the winners with Badgett posting three hits in defeat.
Next up for Costa's team is a trip to Bluefield State Wednesday. The two are scheduled for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
