EMORY, Va. - - A week after UVA Wise knocked off Emory & Henry at Stallard Field, the Wasps returned the favor with a 14-2 triumph in Emory Wednesday.
E&H (9-28) scored the game's final 11 runs to break open what was a 3-2 game going to the home sixth inning.
The Wasps started to put some distance on the Cavaliers (13-23) with a three-run homer off the bat of Wayne Mize in the sixth inning before scoring twice in the seventh and six times in the eighth to claim the 12-run win.
UVA Wise received an RBI from Jeb Hurst in the fourth on a run-scoring double and a RBI groundout by Tyler Gorbett in the sixth to account for its runs.
Brandon Costa's team will be back in action this weekend at home against Limestone. The three-game set is slated to begin Friday at 6 p.m.
