WISE - - Visiting Lenoir-Rhyne completed a three-game South Atlantic Conference baseball sweep of UVA Wise by taking both games of a doubleheader Sunday by scores of 16-0 and 11-5.
Lenoir-Rhyne (29-8, 12-3 SAC) belted 11 extra-base hits, including seven in the game one win. On the day, Wade Cuda tallied five hits as the outfielder scored twice and knocked in a pair while Sal Caricato had four hits, knocked in four runs and scored three times to pace the Bears' offense.
On the mound, LR received a pair of good starts. Andrew Patrick improved to 4-1 by tossing six innings of shutout ball in the opener while freshman Jackson Reid stayed unbeaten at 6-0 by hurling five innings of one-run ball with nine strikeouts in the finale.
UVA Wise (13-23, 3-12 SAC) had three players tally two combined hits in the losses as Nick Badgett, Jeb Hurst and Jacob Boyle combine for six of the Cavaliers' 11 hits.
Next up, Brandon Costa's team travels to Emory & Henry Wednesday for a single nine-inning contest. First pitch against the Wasps is slated for 3 p.m.
