WISE - - UVA Wise junior first baseman Cole Harness entered the record books and provided his club with a win as his two-run double in the home sixth inning of game two established a new single-season school RBI record with 66 while giving the Cavaliers an 8-7 win over Lincoln Memorial. The visiting Railsplitters won game one 14-6 as the two schools split a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader.
The day began with Team IMPACT member Cooper Carlson throwing out an honorary first pitch. A Wise Primary School student, Carlson was diagnosed with a Wilms Tumor (Stage 4) in October of 2021. Wilms Tumor is a rare childhood cancer found in the kidneys. After successfully completing 14 rounds of chemotherapy, 15 days of radiation and having his right kidney and a portion of his liver removed at St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Carlson is cancer free as of October 19, 2022.
Carlson's pitch was a strike to Harness who caught the first pitch and the first baseman continued the excitement with his game-winning double in the nightcap.
UVA Wise (15-29, 4-16 SAC) trailed 7-6 with two outs and two on when Harness stepped to the plate. With teammate D'Sean Prinkleton running on the pitch, Harness laced a ball to the left-centerfield gap allowing Kyle Hoeth to score the tying run and Prinkleton to push across the go-ahead run. The two RBI gave Harness 66 on the season, breaking the single-season school record of 64 that was set by Brad Robbins in 2009.
LMU (22-16, 9-11 SAC) would fail to mount much of a rally in the top of the seventh as Hunter Anderson retired the guests in order to pick up his third save of the season.
The Cavs trailed throughout game two but, tied the game with a five-run fifth inning thanks to a pair of homers. DJ Dickson belted a three-run shot to get UVA Wise within a pair before Harness' two-run shot tied the game.
The Railsplitters went back on top in the top of the sixth on an Andrew Keene run-scoring double before the two-out heroics by Harness.
Freshman Bo Trantham picked up his first collegiate mound win in the victory as he allowed a run over 2/3 innings of work.
Dickson finished 3-for-4 with three RBI with Harness going 3-for-4 with five RBI. Nick Badgett also reached base safely three times in the win.

On the mound, Patrick Queener improved to 4-3 with 5 2/3 innings of three-run baseball.
