TIPOFF TIDBITS - Newberry

- Jason Taylor's Newberry Wolves sit in third place in the Piedmont division of the South Atlantic Conference with six wins — most recently securing a 77-72 win over Anderson on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Newberry's Quandaveon McCollum tallied a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds and aided in holding the Trojans to only 36.4-percent from three-point range.

- As a team, Newberry sits in the bottom two of the conference in points per game with 70.7 and in field-goal percentage with a 42.2-percent.

- On the other hand — Newberry grabs 38.8 rebounds per game earning them a third-place ranking in the conference, while UVA Wise sits in the middle of the pack with 35.7 per game.

Quandaveon McCollum: The senior forward ranks third in points per game in the conference with 16.3 and snags 7.4 rebounds per game, ranking fourth

Malakhi Stremlow: ranks third in the conference in rebounds per game with 7.8, averages 8.5 points per game for the Wolves
 


UVA WISE NEWS & NOTES
- UVA Wise bounced back after their tough loss to Anderson with a convincing 90-72 win over the Mars Hill Mountain Lions on Wednesday in the Prior Center. the Cavaliers sank a team-high 15 three-point buckets  while hitting 57.9-percent from the field.

- Bradley Dean went a perfect four-for-four from the arc while Calen Lightford hit four-of-five. Ben Bryson added to the three-point frenzy with four of his own of seven attempts.

- Since Feb. 1, the Cavaliers drove their way back into the National top ten in three-point field goal percentage as a team (9th place, 40.5-percent). The Cavaliers are the only team in the SAC in the top ten. SAC opponent Lincoln Memorial sit in 16th place with 40-percent.
