UVA Wise NEWS & NOTES
- The Cavaliers are in prime position in the mountain division of the conference after snagging yet another win against Southwest Virginia fellow institution Emory & Henry on the road. With the win, UVA Wise sits at an 8-8 conference record — good for third place before Wednesday's matchup.
- UVA Wise took advantage of an off week in the conference to play non-conference Clinton College, and took the win 96-79. Despite being out two starters (Dean & Ukaj), freshman Zion Fruster and Calen Lightford each filled in the vacancies with career-high 21 point performances. Patrick Shelley highlighted his first career start with 10 points and eight rebounds in the triumph.
- In their last meeting with the Railsplitters, the Cavaliers had one of their poorest three-point shooting performances to date — uncharacteristic of the second best three-point shooting team in the league. UVA Wise was held to 8-of-26 (30.8-percent) and top scorers Bradley Dean (7) and Luke Lawson (6) were held to single digits.
