Box Score Shepherdstown, W.Va. - UVA Wise men's tennis polished off its fantastic weekend on Sunday with a 6-1 victory over Shepherd University.
The day's doubles session went the way of the Cavs as they took two out of three matches from the Rams.Â
In match two the sophomore tandem of Arne Fassbender and Pierre Djaroueh defeated their opposition 6-2. In match three it was more of the same, as freshmen Diego Pedrero and Ege Uzun secured the doubles point in a 6-3 match.
Singles play saw the Cavaliers take five out of six matches from the Rams, in a day where each contest was decided in straight sets.Â
Match two, between freshman Daniel Gonzalez Garza and senior Yuto Shimotsuji, was the most tightly contested victory on the day for UVA Wise. Garza would go on to defeat his counterpart, 6-3 and 6-4.
Matches three and four went the way of the Cavs as well. In match three junior Vanja Vojinovic defeated senior Nicholas Espinoza, 6-2 and 6-2. In match four freshman Diego Pedrero took care of fellow freshman Curry Taylor, 6-1 and 6-3.
Matches five and six were perhaps the most dominant of the day for UVA Wise. In match five freshman Ayaan Tezabwala breezed his way to victory over senior Hamilton Hall, 6-0 and 6-0. In match six freshman Ege Uzun rounded out the solid performance for the Cavs by defeating freshman Khalid Alsadek, 6-0 and 6-1.Â
A tremendously successful three days of play in the rearview and the Cavalier men's tennis team sees its record vault to 5-0 on the season.
A home contest with Milligan University awaits as the Buffaloes will visit Wise, Va. and the Jim & Betty Humphreys Tennis Complex on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m.
