WISE - - Behind Emmaleigh Allen's double-double performance of 13 kills and 16 digs, Lenoir-Rhyne scored a 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) victory over UVA Wise in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action inside the Prior Center Saturday.

UVA Wise trailed 20-12 in the opening set before a late flurry by the hosts would make it 21-19 following an ace from Dannah Persinger. LR jumped out to a fast start behind Allen and Asia McNeil. Allen tallied five kills in the opening set while McNeil racked up four kills to aid the Bears to a .227 hitting percentage in the set.

The day's second set saw LR hold a narrow 9-8 lead when UVA Wise's Kaylee Scarce delivered a kill off a Lily Gutierrez assist. It would be as close as the Cavs would get as the Bears would go on a 9-to-2 scoring spurt to take a commanding 18-10 lead. LR finished the set with 14 kills en route to a .324 hitting percentage.

The third set saw the Bears use another scoring run to break open a close set. With the set knotted at eight all, LR would score seven of the next nine points to take a 15-10 advantage. This time, UVA Wise battled back behind the play of Scarce. The junior would record five of her team-high 10 kills in the set to help the Cavs tie the set at 20.

LR would score five of the final six points in the match with two points coming by way of Allen kills to finish the sweep.

Scarce finished with 12 digs to record her 11th double-double of the year while also adding a trio of service aces to her stat line.

McNeil finished with 10 kills for LR with Sydney Karjala adding a match-high 34 assists in the win.

Next up, UVA Wise travels to Lees-McRae Tuesday, first serve is slated for 6 p.m.
