Limestone is coming off its best win of the season, a 68-59 win over Tusculum Wednesday. In the win, Quin Byrd netted 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Saints outlasted the Pioneers in overtime. Limestone made just five long-range shots in the win but, the 3-point line has been a recipe for success for Corey Fox's squad. Reagan McCray leads the league and ranks eighth in NCAA Division II in 3-point field goal percentage at 50 percent while Byrd is third in the conference at 40 percent from beyond the arc. As a team, the Saints are the best 3-point shooting team in the South Atlantic Conference at 35.6 percent. While Limestone enters with an even 7-7 mark, games away from home have been unkind to the Saints. The team is 2-6 on the road and enters Monday's affair without a road SAC win this winter.
Sophomore Katlin Burger is coming off a career-performance. The forward scored a career-high 28 points on a career-best 12 made field goals while corralling 10 rebounds in Saturday's 69-58 win at Bluefield State. It marked the ninth time this season Burger has reached double figures in scoring and it came in a game where her team needed it as UVA Wise was held without a 3-point field goal. Monday's game could see a pair of milestones reached as redshirt junior Nia Vanzant enters needing five points to become the 13th player in program history to reach 1,300 points for a career while senior Caitlyn Ross is seven assists shy of tying Amber Carter's program record of 530 career assists. With statistical milestones fast approaching, the result of the contest is also highly meaningful. With a win, the Cavaliers could tie Limestone for fifth place in the Mountain Division. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top four teams from the Mountain Division and the top four teams from the Piedmont Division will qualify for the SAC Tournament. Monday's game continues a brutal stretch for UVA Wise who is in the midst of playing six games in 12 days.
