Emory & Henry enters Wednesday's game having lost five of its last six games. The Wasps most recently dropped a 60-52 decision to No. 17 Lenoir-Rhyne. This season, Jaclyn Dickens' team has been led by Campbell transfer Breanna Yarber. The Glade Spring, Va. product has been averaging a team-best 13.7 points per game this season while making 52.9 percent of her field goal attempts. Prior to being held to six points in the Lenoir-Rhyne game, the forward had netted at least 20 points in three consecutive games. Against Limestone, Yarber erupted for a career-high 32 points while grabbing eight rebounds. As a team, Emory & Henry is averaging 64.7 points per game while allowing 67 points per contest.
Having won four of its last five games, UVA Wise begins a pivotal stretch of league games starting Wednesday with Emory & Henry. The Cavaliers are currently in a three-way tie for fourth place in the South Atlantic Conference Mountain Division with a 3-4 league mark. The top four teams from the division will qualify for the league tournament in March. Jamie Cluesman's team is set to play four league games over the next 11 days, including Saturday at Limestone, which currently sits a game up on UVA Wise in the standings. Redshirt junior Nia Vanzant tied a season-high with 23 points while Caitlyn Ross netted all 16 of her points in the game after intermission. Cluesman's crew was efficient from the floor connecting on half of their field goal attempts. On the season, UVA Wise is the league's best shooting team at 44.3 percent while ranking second in the conference in assists per game at 17.8. Ross' 140 assists are the most by any NCAA Division II player this winter while Vanzant (.492) and Katlin Burger (.490) rank inside the league's top five in field goal percentage.
