TIP-OFF TIDBITS - A BATTLE OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA

Ben Thompson and the Emory & Henry crew come into Wise, Va. with a 10-6 overall record and a 2-5 record in conference with wins over Mars Hill and Tusculum. As a team, Emory & Henry averages 86 points per game which ranks second in the league. Their turnover statistics are a different story, though — the Wasps sit dead last in turnovers  with 15.4 while the Cavaliers only average 12.7 a game.

In their last matchup, The Wasps were held to only five-of-22 three-pointers (22.7-percent)  and had two starters (Jake Moynihan, Malcolm Morgan) go one-for-five from the field.

This will be the 39th meeting for the two teams, with Emory & Henry ahead in the all-time series 22-16. Last season, UVA Wise and Emory & Henry split; UVA Wise defeated the Wasps in overtime at Emory last December and the Wasps defeated the Cavs in Wise last January.

UVA WISE NEWS & NOTES

UVA Wise suffered a tough second half in their last conference matchup against Catawba on Saturday, Jan. 17. The Cavs were held to 0-16 from the arc in the final 20 minutes, and the Catawba squad outrebounded the Cavs

48-25 on the night. Despite the loss, Bradley Dean held his ground with a solid 20 points while Patrick Shelley snagged a career-high 16 points with eight rebounds.

The Cavaliers have a solid success rate on their home court (6-3), while Emory & Henry sit with a 3-2 record on the road.
