WISE, VA — The UVA Wise Cavaliers head to SAC foes Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial on Friday and Saturday, hoping to secure their first conference win of the season.
Most recently, the Cavs (3-2, 0-3 SAC) took a 3-0 loss (19-25, 18-25, 15-25) to the Tusculum Pioneers in a hard-fought match. Kaylee Scarce led the Cavaliers offensively with eight kills while Bailey Conner added a team-leading 10 digs and Cassidy Farley put up two blocks.
CARSON-NEWMAN NOTES
The Carson-Newman Eagles sit in second place in the Mountain Division of the SAC, with a 3-1 record.
Their conference wins include Tusculum (3-2: 13-25, 22-25, 25-17, 27-25, 16-14), Lincoln Memorial (3-1: 25-20, 25-11, 17-25, 26-24) and Limestone (3-1: 25-14, 25-16, 22-25, 25-17).
Julia Wheeler stands out among the Eagles as she leads the conference in kills per set (4.76) and total kills on the season thus far (214).
Hayden Barton ranks fifth in the SAC in total digs (140).
LINCOLN MEMORIAL NOTES
The Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters are in 5th place in the Mountain division of the SAC with a 1-2 conference record.
Their sole conference win was against Limestone on Sep. 9, winning 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23).
In the SAC standings, Amanda Lisi ranks fifth in the conference in assists per set (8.03). On the team, Kristen Moehring leads with 95 total kills while MJ Trujillo has racked up 116 digs. Abigail Kesler and Sierra Lemons leads their team with 17 blocks each.
