WISE, VA — The UVA Wise women's tennis team couldn't pull out a win today against the Mars Hill Lions, falling by a final score of 6-1. 

In doubles play, the duo of Liza Akimenko and Katya Akimenko struck again with a 6-3 win against Ines Rodriguez and Maria Razzetta. The win puts the Akimenko sisters at an 11-2 doubles record. 

The next two doubles matchups went in the Lions' favor, as Elana Mackey and Mpolokeng Aletta Macheli took down Sarah Moore and Lillian Morris by a score of 6-0 and Hannah Frazer and Victoria Franklin took down the Grace Hall and Emily Conn duo by a 6-4 score.

In singles, L. Akimenko took another win in her hands as she defeated Amanda Kadiri by scores of 6-3, 6-2. K. Akimenko almost took her own win in No. 2, but fell by 7-5, 6-0 scores to Rodriguez.

The UVA Wise Cavaliers struggled in the next four matchups as Hupperten, Moore, Conn, and Sara Nichols all took losses against their Mars Hill opponents.

The loss puts the Cavs at a 7-15 overall record.
