Storylines – vs Wingate
Nationally ranked Wingate will look to take a step closer to the regular season South Atlantic Conference crown when UVA Wise comes to town Saturday. The Bulldogs are coming off just their third loss of the season, an 88-71 loss at home to Anderson Wednesday. Wingate suffered through a rough shooting night, connecting on just 12-of-49 shot attempts over the game's final three quarters. Veteran coach Ann Hancock does have one of the league's best front courts as Bryanna Troutman and Haleigh Brandon form a pair that averages 28.6 points and 21.1 rebounds per game. In a two-point win at UVA Wise earlier this season, Troutman scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Brandon finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Brandon leads the conference in rebounding at 13.1 per game.

Winners of three consecutive games, UVA Wise sits in sixth place in the SAC standings following Wednesday's 75-72 (OT) win against Lenoir-Rhyne. Sixth-year senior Kalee Johnson scored 21 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, handed out four assists, blocked three shots and registered two steals as Head Coach Jamie Cluesman picked up her 50th career win. The Cavaliers have received a spark recently from freshman forward Katlin Burger. The Walland, Tenn. product has posted consecutive double-doubles, including an 18-point, 11-rebound outing Wednesday. Junior guard Caitlyn Ross could make some history Saturday. Ross enters the weekend with 399 career assists and could become just the third woman to reach 400 career assists at UVA Wise and the first to do so since the program joined NCAA Division II.
