About UVA Wise
Fresh off an 82-75 win at Coker, UVA Wise will look to continue its hot start to the season when Winston-Salem State visits Wise Monday. At Coker, a trio of sophomores performed well for Head Coach
Jamie Cluesman.
Kaitlin Bailey netted a career-high 20 points while Katilin Burger and
Josie Hester tossed in 12 points each. Senior point guard
Caitlyn Ross figures to make history early in the contest. The Kingston, Tenn. product enters the game with 998 points and with two points will become the 24th woman in program history to reach 1,000 career points. While Monday's game presents an opportunity to reach a scoring milestone, Ross has been among the best in the country at passing the ball this winter. Entering the game, Ross leads NAA Division II in assists per game at 8.5. Her 469 career assists are the second most of any active NCAA Division II women's basketball player and ranks third in UVA Wise history, standing 61 assists of Amber Carter's program record 530 assists. A win would allow the Cavaliers to match their best start as a NCAA Division II program, tying the 6-1 start to the season the 2016 team put together. Monday's game is just one of two home games this month for UVA Wise who is in a stretch of playing 7-of-8 away from home.
