CAVS HEAD BACK TO NORTH CAROLINA TO TANGLE WITH BLUE BEARS

Storylines – Livingstone
Fifth-year Head Coach Chiante Wester's Blue Bears are off to a 1-2 start this season. Livingstone dropped a pair of games to Mountain East Conference members Glenville State and West Virginia State before beating Newport News Apprentice 70-42. Rebounding has been a strong suit for the Blue Bears who rank fourth nationally in rebounds per game at 52. The team is also forcing 31 turnovers per game to rank second nationally. Jamiah Lane's six offensive rebounds a game ranks fifth in NCAA Division II while Samiyah Briggs' three steals a night is top 40 in the country. As a team, the Blue Bears are blocking seven shots per game, led by Andresia Alexander's two per game.
About UVA WISE
UVA Wise is off to its best start as a NCAA Division II member at 4-0. Sophomore guard Josie Hester is the reigning South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week after she poured in 17.5 points per game while shooting 68.8 percent from the field last week. The fast start has propelled Jamie Cluesman's crew to the D2SIDA Regional Poll, the Cavaliers are ranked No. 10 in the latest installment, joining six other SAC members. UVA Wise has played aggressively on both ends of the floor, thus far. Through four games, the Cavs have attempted 88 foul shots while holding opponents to 34.8 percent shooting. A big reason for the defensive success has been the play of sophomore forward Kaitlin Bailey. The Anderson transfer has already blocked 11 shots this season and is coming off a season-high 14 points on  6-of-7 shooting in the win at Belmont Abbey. Redshirt junior Nia Vanzant continues to be "Miss Consistent" when it comes to scoring. Vanzant has scored in double figures in each of the season's first four games and her 19 points per game ranks fourth in the league. Senior Caitlyn Ross could reach a milestone this week, the point guard enters the week 25 points shy of becoming the 24th member of the program's 1,000-point club.
