CAVALIERS STROLL PAST FALCONS IN 117-76 DEFEAT

WISE, VA — In a historic Prior Center win, the Cavaliers defeated the Pfeiffer Falcons by a dominating 117-76 final score on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Every single UVA Wise player got a stab at the scoreboard, with the team shooting a solid 66.7% from the field. Their showing from the field currently leads the nation (Division II).

The Cavaliers (3-0, 0-0 SAC) went head-to-head against the Falcons (2-2, 0-0 USA South) for the first seven minutes until a Bradley Dean three-point dagger clipped the Falcon wings for the remainder of the half. Dean and Lawson combined for five three-pointers while Pettiford sprinkled in a silencing dunk to jump to a 21-point lead going into the break.

After the first five minutes of the second half, the Cavs had outscored Pfeiffer 17-to-4 with Falcons Doug Smith and Marcos Martinez putting up a layup each. With the clock ticking to the ninth minute, a quick jumper from Rron Ukaj had put the Cavs up by 40, and the Falcons had ran out of gas. UVA Wise took the win by a score of 117-76 — the largest win in the David J. Prior Convocation Center's history, and the largest win margin by UVA Wise men's basketball in the program's Division II era.

Honaker found success from the arc, sinking a career-high four threes and leading the night with 18 points. Three other Cavaliers found themselves in the double-digits — Ben Bryson put up 11 points, and Lawson and Dean put up 14 each.

Pfeiffer struggled with 16 turnovers — and UVA Wise capitalized, snagging 26 points from Falcon miscues.

Smith led the Falcons with 13 points and seven rebounds. Daymon Beckwith put up his own 11 points in the effort.

Up next, UVA Wise faced the Newport News Apprentice School in another home contest on Nov. 19 at 2 PM.
