WISE, VA — The UVA Wise men's tennis team ended their fall season with a flawless 7-0 record as they took down the Shawnee State Bears by a score of 6-1.
In doubles play, Miguel De Rueda and Gustavo Marangoni took down Melo and Mitchell by a score of 6-1. No. 2 and No. 3 duos Thuri-Nagy/Vanja Vojinovic and JR Kilgore/Hoffman defeated their Bears opponents by a score of 6-3 each.
The Cavs began singles play with a tough three-set loss in the No. 1 spot, as Duante Melo stopped Dominik Thuri-Nagy in a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 defeat. But the Cavaliers swept the remaining singles matchups — four of five in two-set decisions. In the No. 6 spot, Dominic Hoffman forced a tiebreaker that he was able to conquer by a score of 8-6.
The win over Shawnee State completed an undefeated fall campaign for the UVA Wise men's tennis team.
