Box Score BREVARD, N.C. - The UVA Wise Highland Cavaliers men's tennis team blew out the Brevard College Tornados in a 9-0 win today, September 26.

Starting off singles play was Cavalier Jake Ferner, who defeated opponent Devin Horton of the Tornados by scores of 6-4, 6-4. Dominic Hoffman also grabbed a W against Noah Lewis in the No. 2 spot and kept him scoreless in both sets (6-0, 6-0). In No. 3 singles play, Coleton Burke fought a tough battle with Brevard's Jame Srsich in the first set, but came out as a winner with scores of 7-6 and 6-1. The toughest singles battle of the day came from Luke Jarnigan and Brevard's Bryce Bernitt — the opponents went through three hard-fought sets before Jarnigan was able to seal the deal with a third-set win of 10-8. John Robert Kilgore and Dylan Galenski ended singles play with wins against their respective opponents Andrew Ingram and Hunter Williams to give the Cavs a clean sweep.
In doubles play, duo Ferner and Hoffman outscored Horton and Srsich 8-1. Burke and Jarnigan also had no trouble defeating their opponents, and they beat Ingram and Lewis 8-2. Lastly, Kilgore and Galenski grabbed an 8-5 win against Bernitt and Peter Bresko.
The Cavaliers improve to 2-2 on the fall season, and look to play Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. on Oct. 2.
