The UVA Wise volleyball team completed their second day of the NGU Tournament in Tigerville, S.C. and although their first game ended in a 3-1 loss to Fayetteville State University, The Cavaliers snagged their second win of the season on Saturday, Sept. 11 against Southern Wesleyan University in a 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-16, 25-21).
The first match against Fayetteville State was a hard-fought battle, with the Broncos forcing the fourth set.
Leaders in the match included
Adison Minor with 13 kills,
Matelyn Gibson with 14 digs, and Farley with two blocks. Leaders from the Broncos included Kalee Vanderhorst with 14 kills on the match, Jasmine Jacinto producing 15 digs and Xiamana Spikes with 5 blocks against the opponent.
The Southern Wesleyan and UVA Wise matchup went in the Cavaliers' favor with a 3-0 shutout of the Spartans. In the match, the infamous trio were leaders once again - Minor with 12 kills, Gibson with 20 digs, and Farley with five blocks.
The Cavaliers ended the NGU Tournament with a 2-2 record and head to Limestone University in Gaffney, S.C. on Tuesday, Sept. 14 for their next match.
