Box Score JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – UVA Wise was defeated 7-0 by Carson-Newman University Tuesday on the road.
In doubles, sophomore Jake Ferner and junior Dominic Hoffman paired up for the Cavs (1-12, 0-10 SAC) at No. 1 as the duo fell 6-3 to Gabriel Dabdab and Ids Waterbolk. Senior Coleton Burke and junior Luke Jarnagin were swept by their opponents at No. 2 while sophomores John Robert Kilgore and Connor Giza were also swept at the No. 3 spot.
Ferner was outlasted by Carson-Newman's (7-9, 5-5 SAC) Marc Janse at No. 1 singles in a 6-0, 7-5 loss. Hoffman and Jarnagin were swept by their opponents at the No. 2 and No. 4 spot, respectively. At No. 3, Burke dropped his match 6-2, 6-0 to Waterbolk while Giza fell by the same score at No. 5 to the Eagles Julian Froehlich. Kilgore was defeated in a battle at No. 6 as Carson-Newman's Joshua Ott secured the 8-5 win.
Head coach Roger Whited's squad will be back in action Wednesday, April 7 for a 3 p.m. match at Mars Hill.
