WISE - - Lenoir-Ryhne continued its offensive onslaught Sunday as the Bears completed a four-game sweep of UVA Wise with a pair of wins at Stallard Field. The visitors claimed game one 15-2 in five innings before winning the series final 17-7.
Lenior-Rhyne (11-6, 8-4 SAC) received a 4-for-4 game at the plate from its leadoff hitter Drue Galassici in the opener as he paced a 15-hit effort for the Bears.
Galassici homered as part of a five-homer game for the guests. Matt Mackey homered twice in the win, both solo shots while Connor Smith, Nick Clarno and Wade Cuda also homered.
UVA Wise (1-13, 0-12 SAC) had RBI hits by Gabe Wurtz and Gavin BIrkheimer in the loss.
Andrew Patrick earned the mound win (3-1) as he struck out five while scattering five hits in a complete game effort.
Game two saw the Bears line 18 hits with Galassici and Clarno each homering in the win.
The Cavs scored seven runs on just three hits. Bret Roberts, Ethan Fletcher, Just Reed, Birkheimer, JoJo Kelliher and Clay Taylor had an RBI each in the loss.
Tyler Blaum surpassed 180 career hits in the doubleheader, he now has 181 in this career.
Next up, UVA Wise is scheduled to visit Concord Wednesday for a non-conference tilt.
