Men's Tennis Falls Short at King in Season Opener

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Men's tennis opened the 20201 season on the road Saturday afternoon as the Cavaliers were edged, 4-3, by King University (Tenn.).

At number one doubles, sophomore Jake Ferner and junior Dominic Hoffman teamed up as the pair were outlasted 6-2. Senior Coleton Burke and junior Luke Jarnagin were defeated 6-2 at the number two spot in doubles play. The Tornado picked up the doubles point as sophomores Connor Giza and John Robert Kilgore won by default at the number three spot.

In singles play, Jarnagin earned his first singles match win of the season at number three in a 6-2, 7-5 defeat of King's Kyle Robinson. Giza and Kilgore also won their matches by default at the fourth and fifth singles spot.

Head coach Roger Whited's squad will return to the court next Saturday as the Cavs take on Milligan on the road. First serve is set for 12 p.m. UVA Wise will be back in action Sunday at Randolph College at noon.
