The Mars Hill Mountain Lions came out victorious against the UVA Wise Highland Cavaliers from Tuesday's match, outscoring the Cavs 3-0 (25-7, 25-7, 25-16).

Â
The Mars Hill Mountain Lions (19-9, 7-7 SAC) started the first set in ferocious fashion, scoring 10 consecutive points after the UVA Wise Cavaliers (4-18, 0-14 SAC) snagged the first two points of the match by
Cassidy Farley and
Adison Minor. With the score at 10-2, Minor had another kill to end Mars Hill's streak - but not for long. A kill by Mountain Lion Sarah Goddard started another run that the Cavs couldn't answer to. Mars Hill took the first set and kept the Cavs at single digits; 25-7.
Â
In the second set of the night, the Mountain Lions had a similar start, but this time they ran away with 13 unanswered points while the Cavs had only secured three with the help of
Morgan Blevins and Farley. The leader in kills on the night, Mars Hill's Grace Lilly, had no problem solidifying the deal and carrying the Mountain Lions for their second set win with the same score of 25-7.
Â
In the third set, the Cavs displayed a different level of intensity as they gained an early 6-3 lead with the help of miscommunication coming from the other side of the net. The Cavs held their lead until the Mountain Lions had snuck up point by point and solidified a 10-9 lead by a Lilly kill. Although Blevins responded with a kill, Mars Hill grabbed nine consecutive points towards the end of the set, giving the Cavs little time to catch up. The Mountain Lions took the third set by a score of 25-16.

The Cavs will head on the road to face the Anderson University Trojans on Friday, Nov. 5 at 6:00 p.m. Check out
