Cavalier Men Host Lenoir-Rhyne Wednesday

STORYLINES – VS LENOIR-RHYNE UNIVERSITY
Head coach Everick Sullivan's team wrapped up the weekend with an 89-83 home win over second-ranked Lincoln Memorial University Saturday afternoon. The victory against LMU ended a 39-game win streak for the Railsplitters and marked the highest ranked opponent the Bears have defeated in program history. After postponing Monday's contest at Anderson, Coach Sullivan's team now enters into Wednesday evening's contest with a 3-1 overall and South Atlantic Conference record. Against the Railsplitters Saturday, Lenoir-Rhyne had three players record double-digit points led by redshirt senior Darius Simmons' game-high 23 points. Seniors Davion Bradford (5) and Mason Hawks (5) led the Bears in rebounding in the win against LMU. Lenoir-Rhyne is currently fifth in the league in scoring (79.8 ppg) and shooting 45.5 percent from the field (fourth in the SAC) as a team. Simmons' 19.5 ppg this season rank him fifth in scoring in the SAC.

ABOUT UVA WISE
In the Cavalier's first contest in over a month, UVA Wise dropped back-to-back league matchups this weekend at Coker University. Head coach Blake Mellinger's team fell 83-70 Friday evening before being edged in overtime, 95-91, by the Cobras Saturday afternoon. Freshman Isaiah McAmis entered the starting lineup this past weekend while fellow freshman Bradley Dean scored his first points in a Cavalier uniform. Junior Cameron Whiteside led the scoring effort for UVA Wise both games, averaging 24 points per game. In Saturday's contest, Whiteside finished with his eighth career double-double, recording a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds. Redshirt junior Briggs Parris notched his first 20-point game of the campaign while junior Kaeleb Carter averaged 16 points and 6.5 boards. Through the Cavs two weekend games at Coker, UVA Wise shot 44.2 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from three-point range. Coach Mellinger's team found success at the free throw line, shooting 85 percent (34-for-40) at the charity stripe. Currently, the Cavs lead the league shooting 80.3 percent from the foul line while the team's 85.0 ppg rank UVA Wise third in the conference.
