GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - - Tusculum outslugged UVA Wise in a 17-7 South Atlantic Conference baseball victory at Pioneer Park Monday evening. The win allowed the Pioneers to salvage a game in the three-game series, the Cavaliers swept a doubleheader on Sunday.
Tusculum (11-9, 1-5 SAC) broke open the game with a four-run fifth inning to extend its lead to 11-6.
In the big frame, Brandon Trammell belted a two-out, three-run homer. UVA Wise (9-7, 3-3 SAC) surrendered three homers on the day as Bryson Ford hit two out of the park to secure his school's first league win of the season.
The Cavaliers lined eight hits in the loss, Ethan Fletcher continued his hot stretch at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Tyler Blaum went 2-for-5 with three RBI while Bret Roberts and Gabe Wurtz reach base twice each with a walk and a hit.
Next up, Hank Banner's club will play a SAC school in a non-conference tilt when the team visits Lincoln Memorial Wednesday.
