Storylines – vs. Newberry College
Tied for the seventh-place spot in the most current South Atlantic Conference standings, the Wolves host UVA Wise Saturday afternoon inside Eleazer Arena as head coach Jason Taylor's team looks to halt a three-game losing streak. Newberry went 4-4 in the month of January before dropping the first two games of February on the road at Tusculum, 75-66, and Anderson, 81-78. The Wolves are led in scoring by senior Angelo Sales Jr. who claims one of the top field goal percentages in the SAC (53.5 percent, 10th in the SAC) while sitting atop the league's rebounding category, collecting a team-high 9.1 boards per game. Newberry's 77.2 points per game fall just below UVA Wise in the 10th spot with three more Wolves averaging double-digit points in sophomore TJ Brown (13.3 per game), senior Luke Gibson (11.3 per game), and junior Marcus Ford (10.1 per game). The team's 38.3 rebounds per game is the sixth-best in the SAC while also claiming the second-best three-point field goal percentage at 37.9 percent. Coach Taylor's squad is holding opponents to 74 points per game (third in the SAC) and 43.5 percent shooting from the field (fourth in the SAC). Newberry will stay home to take on the Royals of Queens (NC) Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. before going on the road for a pair of games.

Whiteside posted his 20th double-figure scoring and 11th 20+ point performance in Wednesday nights loss as he sits at third in the league with a team-leading 20 points per game, averaging 7.1 field goals per contest (fourth in the SAC). Parris has moved into the top-10 in three-point field goal percentage in the league, shooting 41.1 percent from behind the arc while averaging 3.1 three-pointers per game (third in the SAC). Sheffey's team-high 5.1 assists per game rank him third among individual league leaders while Whiteside continues to lead the Cavs with his seven rebounds per game (seventh in the SAC). Head coach Blake Mellinger's team will seek to even the score in Saturday's contest after falling to the Wolves at home back in December, 73-67. The Cavalier men will return to Wise for a 7:30 p.m. tip against No. 2 LMU Wednesday night before getting back on the road to face the Royals of Queens (NC) next Saturday at 4 p.m.
