Storylines – vs Wingate
For the third consecutive game, preparation will be difficult for UVA Wise. Wingate has played just one game this season due to COVID-19 and in that contest, reigning SAC Defensive Player of the Year Teliyah Jeter did not play. Jeter was one of four potential returning starters that did not play in the season opening 63-52 loss to Tusculum. Destiny Coleman, Bryanna Troutman and Elana Ingram were also absent from the lineup and it is unclear if they will play Wednesday against UVA Wise. The Bulldogs are under the direction of ninth year coach Ann Hancock who has guided her alma mater to six NCAA Tournaments and a trio of league titles. This year's Wingate team looks to rely heavily on sophomore guard Hannah Clark. An All-SAC Freshman selection last year, Clark is the team's top returning scorer (11.2 ppg) and canned a game-winning jump shot against UVA Wise the last time the Cavs were in Wingate. Clark scored 12 points in the season opener and was joined in double figure scoring by UC San Diego transfer Haleigh Hatfield who tossed in 13 points. Wingate was picked fourth in the Preseason SAC Coaches' Poll.
